What fuels my passion: The gorgeousness of things animate and inanimate, the creative genius of others, clear vision, humility, the pure fun of creative collaboration.
The most fun I had in one day: Readying for our "Breakfast at Tiffany's Martini Party", our best friends and family came together to help us accomplish the complete installation of a stone garden patio, the highlighting of the house through exterior trim painting, and winterizing the landscaped garden in a single day. We had been renovating the home for over two years, during which we had resisted the urge to entertain, as we had so often before, in elaborate scale.
It was similar to an Amish barn raising. Our friends were eager for us to throw another one of our epic parties, so we had the people we most loved, willing to work diligently toward a common goal. All of the materials were ready to go and three meals planned/prepared for a long days' work. When we were done, we sat around together while the sun set, consuming excellent southern barbeque and good beer, feeling extremely proud of and astounded by what we'd been able to accomplish together in only one day.
Fun Fact: I was a competition pianist when I was a child.
